Limited edition 325 copies.* Today there strong debates questioning about the extraordinary breakthroughs in science such as in biology, cloning; in Internet communication and the never ending movement to censor it; in security, surveillance drones and the increasing level of immersion in entertainment, among other matters. People facing the 21st century are trying to determine whether these new tools-actions will enhance and bring life to a great unprecedented level, or if these new tools-actions will contribute and perhaps even cause the destruction of society and life as we know it.
Public opinion on cloning is still vastly divided. The arguments are many and they are centered in advantages or disadvantages ideas like: providing better research capabilities to find cures to many current diseases; bringing back friends or relatives who have passed away by cloning an identical copy; giving children for women who are single and do not wish to have artificial insemination; the choice of physical, emotive or moral characteristics; cloning is unethical and reduces genetic diversity; human cloning could produce another way to have dictatorships; human cloning would alter the very essence of humanity, and so on.
On the other hand, science fiction literature or movies have also played a key role on ideas by introducing new ways of life or the way societies, in general, deal with science breakthroughs.
The main concept of my debut album is about possible scenarios for human cloning more into the science fiction narrative. My music tries to describe sonically a utopian society which desperately wants to achieve a state of stability, a loss of individuality, and the undoing of all natural-spiritual-cosmic processes. Human cloning, successfully engineered, has only one main goal: the purpose of life not only like the maintenance of well-being, but as some degree of open development and refining of awareness and the human being itself.
Once individuality and emotions have been eliminated, the chain of dehumanization enters into the field of art and personal expression. Since no one can create art or express emotions in these new societies, individual expression is retarded. The lack of a cultural environment adds to the artistic wasteland and introduces a new kind of human groups that does have a "good side": there is no war or suffering, little disease or social conflict. But for those few highlights, society pays a very high price: there is no love, family, art, religion nor history; there is only stability, identity and community.
The album was composed, arranged, produced, recorded and mixed at gtTM headquarters in Mexico City. Most of the compositions and arrangements were made at midnight because I find quite interesting and seductive the silence that prevails on this time of a day. When I was composing-arranging-producing this album my main goal was to achieve musically a sound narrative that could at some point explain without words or convey a sense of human cloning and its consequences; yet the real difficulty laid down in creating a whole album from musical and sample fragments.
Burstbot is a project of Marco Fierro, Mexico City-based musician, art director, designer and photographer. 23 years through a myriad genre shifts and musical accomplices. An admitted music obsessive, Marco Fierro is the maker of his own music style Bot-Pop which is perhaps a proposal to think/laugh about the contemporary music categorization.
Marco Fierro has been making music by playing drums in grindcore, death metal and punk bands most of the 90's. Then in this new century he got himself interested into free improvisation, drone, noise and ambient. Marco Fierro also started to experiment/taught himself to play synthesizer making it his main instrument nowadays.
Member and co-founder of Stalaktos. Marco Fierro is an active member of Oblique Quartet with multi- instrumentalist Ron Anderson, bass player Carlos Fierro and drummer Azael González. Marco Fierro enjoys being involved in ongoing quests of fresh and challenging musical experiences. Soon he is going to do a recording session of his newest solo project Gvvld.

It was until 2011 when I met Holly Herndon, Mat Dryhurst and Scott Arford here, in Mexico City -with their now disbanded project Total Accomplishment that I realized that great computer-based music could be made.
